these are polyethelyne bags which will be filled with plants growing in a liquid medium. possible plants include commercially valuable micro-algae, food products such as vegetable sprouts, or biomedical products. these bags will be filled with necessary organic matter and nutrients, then attached to the supporting structure for an appropriate growing period. the atachment systme must allow for bags to act as overlapping shingles to provide a weatherproof exterior layer to the entire PhytoWall system. consideration must be given to the need for periodic harvesting of the product, an dreplacement or individual bags within the systme on a crop-rotation basis.

this is the supporting structure of guy wires on which the ScumBags will hang. the cables will run vertically from anchor points on the ground to anchor points at the top of the supporting building or structure. the cables must be strong enough to support the weight of the Scumbags and other elements hanging from them, and must have an adjustment mechanism for tightening them and keeping them taught.
